Ink Stain Removal

I recently wrote an article about how to get ink stains out, and many of the remedies use things most of us have around the house already.

Walgreen's $1 Section

I recently discovered Walgreen's has a new $1 section. In this section, you will find several products for $1, $2, or $5 apiece.

For example, while I browsed the $1 section the other day, I found ten toothbrushes, a hard bristle hairbrush, hair clips, hair scrunchies, lotion, honey, orange slices, sour gummy worms, six pens, and much more. You can find some really great deals in this section of the Walgreen's!

Free Used Books - Boo Swapping

Love to read?

I know I do!

But new books can be expensive, especially if you read a lot for pleasure.

If you love to read, you may want to check out this site I found out about today: www.paperbackswap.com. This site allows you to swap books with other people who also love to read.

First, you post books you wouldn't mind giving away. When someone "orders" your book, you follow the site's instructions for shipping and send your book to the recipient. You only pay the cost of shipping, which is usually around $2 per book.

When you have some book credits, you can then search the site's database of books and "order" books you would like to read. You will receive the books in the mail, and they are yours to keep for free. Alternatively, after you are done reading the book, you can list the book for someone else to "order" on the site.

Happy Reading!

"Green" and Canvas Bags

Canvas or "green" bags, as some stores like to call them, are good ways to help save the environment. Some are even made from recycleable material.

Here's a short list of places that seem to sell quality bags and places that appear to have less quality bags.

-Target - People in a community I'm part of have reported that while these bags are cheap, they don't hold up well at all.

-Wal-Mart - Reports are mixed on these bags - some have had good luck with them while others find that they have ripped easily.

-Trader Joe's - Everyone who got their canvas bags at Trader Joe's reports loving them. They assert these bags are sturdy and last a very long time.

-Safeway - Mixed reviews - some people find these bags hold up find while others don't appear to think they are quality "green" bags.

-Albertson's - These bags have been reported as quality.

-Cotsco - Everyone who bought bags at Cotcso also loves them. They report these bags are durable and last a very long time.

Most grocery stores have started giving customers who bring canvas bags to pack their groceries in a small discount.

Cheap Feminine Products

Here's a feminine tip:

Wal-Mart has great prices on feminine products (pads, tampons). Their generic brand for pads are between $3-4, and their generic tampons are under $4 for a 40-count package. The generic pads are comparable to Stayfree, and the generic tampons are comparable to Tampax Pearl.

These are fantastic deals, as I have found other stores charge more than double these prices for feminine products.

Saving Money on Gas

Gas is so expensive these days! It sounds crazy, but I can remember when gas was under $1 per gallon!

Here are a few tips for saving money on gas:
-Carpool - If you have a co-worker you are friends with, perhaps you and your co-worker can carpool to work. Take turns picking each other up and dropping each other off on the way to and from work. You could take one week, and your co-worker could take the next. This is most ideal if you and your co-worker live relatively close to one another.

-Public Transportation - Public transportation is a great way to save on gas money. Most major cities, and some smaller cities, have public transportation systems, which can usually be taken for under $2 per trip. Public transportation certainly takes longer than driving to work, but it will provide you an opportunity to do some paperwork or read on the way to and from work instead of stressing out about traffic.

Saving on Valentine's Day gifts

If you want to save some money on Valentine's Day gifts for your girlfriend or wife, I suggest visiting Victoria's Secret some time in the near future. They are currently having their semi-annual sale. You can get high quality lingerie, bath and body products, and beauty supplies for a fraction of the price they normally charge!
